Who we are
Westside Regional Center is one of 21 regional centers in California. We help people with developmental disabilities, and their families, find and get the services they need.
What is a regional center?
A regional center is a nonprofit. We have a contract with the State of California’s Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
We find out who can get services. This test is free. Then we help each person plan their services, find them, and get them. Most services are free, at any age and any income.
We serve people age 3 and older under a law called the Lanterman Act. We also serve babies and toddlers through Early Start.
Our mission
It is WRC’s mission to support people with developmental disabilities, their families, and communities of choice by facilitating access to person-centered, culturally responsive services and resources.
Our vision
WRC envisions a world where people with developmental disabilities lead self-determined lives of meaning and purpose and participate fully in their local communities.
How we work: Listen, Inform, Support
Total participation
People with disabilities and their families are welcomed in community life, at work, at school and at home.
A family perspective
We see each person as part of a family: the people who are close to them. We support that family.
Building power
People and families make their own choices about where they live, learn and work.
Putting people first
Families and staff work as partners, not as “professionals” and “clients”.
Where we serve
We serve these cities and neighborhoods in Los Angeles County: Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Culver City, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Los Angeles, Malibu, Marina Del Rey, Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades, Playa Del Rey, Santa Monica, Topanga Canyon, Venice, Westchester, West Los Angeles.
Your Service Area page lists El Segundo as a city you serve, but its ZIP code list doesn’t include 90245, the ZIP code of your own office. This check uses the list as published, so it says no to 90245. WRC confirms the list.
Our board and public meetings
A Board of Directors leads WRC. Its meetings are open to the public.
